SOURLIS GLASS STUDIO
Tom Sourlis
Tom has pursued a lifelong interest in arts and crafts through weaving, painting and glasswork. He studied architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology for four years quitting school to go into VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America)
In 1974, he began making stained glass windows and lampshades which lead to a 30 year fascination with glass lamps. Beginning with Tiffany style and moving into more contemporary, sculptural forms, all of Tom's work has been driven by his enduring, reverential connection to nature.
Throughout his successful career in the glass world he continued to experiment and create unique varieties of glass. THREADS OF LIGHT demonstrates his continuing experimentation and visionary search to discover new ways to produce amazing and beautiful glass objects.
Twyla Butler
Twyla Butler has worked in glass for over 15 years joining Sourlis Glass Studio in 2002. Her experience lies in the arts of copper foil, lead came and fusing glass as well as in metalsmithing and lapidary work.
Before joining Sourlis Glass, Twyla worked for a stained glass firm and taught glass making classes for several major corporations. Her catalog of glasswork includes jewelry, stained glass and one of-a-kind mosaics.
Twyla’s inspiration comes from architecture, nature, geometry and movement which make her the perfect pairing for Sourlis Glass.
