Artist's Statement
I’ve been interested in body language, how people communicate without words for a long time. I start by “drawing” the gesture of the human form with paint and then build up the figure within the line drawing with “broken color” strokes, similar to the Impressionist’ method.

The figures are often female and are surrounded by symbols representing what they are thinking about. Often they contemplate the natural world. So in a way, I paint the exterior of the human form and the interior ideas of the mind.
