Responsivism has its roots in art as far back as the Lascaux cave paintings. It is a purpose for creative response. The Ancient cave painters were responding to the base need for food, in that sense, the mystical ritual paintings were a response to Hunger. Throughout history, action has been prompted by events and issues from politics to music. Corbet, painted his response to the unfairness of the Paris Salon, Picasso painted Guernica as a response to the injustice and savagery of war. For painters, any powerful event can evoke a response. To this goal, Artists play a vital part in our culture to put vision into what cannot be expressed by words. Shari has been responding to the transformative and evocative power of the scriptures. Her work Towers of Angels was a direct response to the 9/11 tragedy, and Good Works is a response to homelessness and the Habititat for Humanity solution. The series here, Carol Series is a spontaneous response to Christmas music that she was listening to while painting. No sketches are made for these works. They are directly and extemporaneously executed responses. Sometimes this art form becomes performance art done in front of a group or audience who can watch the visual response develop and become a reality. Carol Series I $500 Carol Series II $500 Carol Series III $500 Triptych $1200 Art Appraisal and Curatorial Services Contact: Ruth Crnkovich info@crnart.com or visit her web site www.CRNart.com Services coming in 2008 -Framing -Restoration -Auction -Custom Wall Hangings Copyright © 2007 Shimmery LLC.
